CANDY AND CUSTOM-BUILT BEARS SELECT CINEMA:

American candy brand, Mike & Ike, have launched their entry into the Australian market in the biggest way possible - on our cinema screens. Already an established name in the States, Mike & Ike were looking for a unique and cost effective means of publicising their brand in this new market and that is precisely what they saw in cinema advertising.

With nearly 100 million visits per year, from a population of around 20 million, cinema in Australia has the reach required for such a launch, and with its low price, multitude of available locations and high production values, Cinevation was an obvious choice for Mike & Ike's appointed marketing communications company, Creata.

Mike & Ike are quite specific with their brand identity, and they did not have a very large budget for their Australian launch. Director of Communication at Creata, Steve Kelly, said they saw cinema as a great fit for the particular needs of Mike & Ike.

"We needed a medium that was creative and really got to our target market in the right environment. It was extremely cost effective, and we (Creata and Mike & Ike) have been really happy with the results"

This campaign comes only weeks after Creata used Cinevation for the first time to advertise one of their clients - a unique Teddy Bear retail chain, Build-a-Bear Workshop. General Manager of Build-a-Bear Workshop Australia, Anders Carlsson, reported an influx of interest almost immediately after their cinema ads went to screen.

"They (Store Managers from various locations) said that the guests were mostly new guests and, if they were repeats, they didn't think that they would have come in when they did if it wasn't for (the cinema ad).

"Looks like it is doing what we hoped it would!"
Mr Kelly said, like Mike & Ike, Build-a-Bear required a unique medium that was able to communicate the Build-a-Bear process and store locations, and achieve targeted reach and impact, on a minimal budget.

"It was a tall order, but response has been immediate and very gratifying. Cinevation really worked for us - its paw-some!"
